3 Idiots is biggest hit of previous decade
(2001-10) so now included in This List of Bollywood's All-time blockbusters.
We are currently considering to add EK THA TIGER in this list at 5th spot(along
with 3 idiots) but final decision will be taken later. We are very selective
and all films listed below have dominated their respective decades so
films should meet that criteria.

Dabangg which are amoung Biggest grossers of all time? (according to many sources of current electronic media)
Answer :-Above mentioned films are not
yet included in this list of Bollywood's biggest Alltime Blockbusters
because apart from earnings there are various factors which should
be considered in naming any film ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER of the great
Indian Bollywood Cinema. Movie should have Long lasting IMPACT on
masses and mindsets of people. Just a simple question may answer
this..Can you think of any of your friends, colleagues or relatives
who have not seen the movies SHOLAY and DDLJ?
Hard to find..right? still many people (Middle aged and elder generation)
have not seen 'Dabangg' and RNBDJ movie yet and it has
not become topic of serious discussions amoung all generations...
Sholay and DDLJ released in single screen days and no Multiplex
boom was there, rates of tickets were one fifth of today's rates(This
is the reason why even after running housefull for many months their
total grossed amount is lesser than today's collections), still
some of those movies had big Impact and became hugely popular hence
qualify for our list of All time bollywood Blockbusters ....
1) Sholay

This movie remains the Biggest Alltime
Blockbuster of Bollywood cinema because the amount of impact it
had on Indian audience can't be matched by any other movie till
date. Inflation Adjusted earnings(probably more than 600 crore rupees)
of this movie also seems too high to cross by today's movies. Each
and every dialogue of this movie became popular.
2) Mughal-E-Aazam / Mother India
- A romantic tale of Salim and Anarkali played by legendary
artists Dilip
Kumar and Madhubala
in "Mughal-E-Aazam" had packed houses for many months
after its release. Melodious songs and great dialogues made "Mughal-E-Aazam"
very popular.Mother India - Coloured
movie Released way back in 1957 connected well with the audience
of rural India and liked by the most. (These two films were most
popular and highest grossers of 1950s and 60s)
3) Hum Aapke hain Koun / Aradhana(1969) -
HAHK-This Romantic family drama brought back the music
and love in indian films and showered the box office with unprecedented
money and broke many records all over india. This movie still has
the record of completing Golden Jubilee at most cities and cinema
halls ever. It was the first movie to gross over 100 crores ever
in Bollywood History. This movie released when Madhuri
Dixit was at the peak of her career and the topmost actress
of bollywood at that time. Madhuri
took away most credit for the succes of "Hum Aapke Hain Koun".
She is currently regarded as one of the All time greatest Actresses
of Bollywood.
Aradhana was the first blockbuster of bollywood which completed
a diamond jubilee(75 weeks) at Numerous centers all over country.
This film's music is still very popular and the success of this
film gave The indian industry its FIRST SUPERSTAR IN RAJESH KHANNA.
4) Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) -
Aditya Chopra's DDLJ was a smash hit and considered one
of the best and biggest all time Romantic Movies of Bollywood Cinema.
This movie established Shah
rukh khan and Kajol
as top actors of bollywood and both became craze and overnight heartthrob
of young generation.
5) 3 Idiots -
Story and Life events of 3 college students connected well with
young audience and this movie becomes biggest hit of the decade,
subsequently entering in the list of our Top ten Biggest All time
Bollywood blockbusters.
6) Dhoom 2
Multiplex boom and fast track adventurous theme made this
Yash Raj Production a Huge All Time Blockbuster.
7) Om Shanti Om
- This Movie claimed to be an Alltime biggest grosser at
it's peak point. Its success lies behind extensive promotions and
Multiplex Boom. Shah
rukh khan promoted this film like never before. OM SHANTI OM
is the film for which SRK had started the trend of film promotions
through Cricket (T20 matches). Om Shanti Om got almost unprecedented
pre-release "Hype", also, due to a song featuring more
than 30 Biggest Bollywood Stars and another one exposing Shah
Rukh's "Six Pack Abs" (So were they called).
8) Gadar : Ek Prem Katha
The love story of an Indian Punjabi Boy and a Pakistani
Muslim Girl, with the background of indo-pak partition tensions
and violence, was well received by cheering audience. Sweet songs
and Melodious music helped the movie to become a Huge All
Time Blockbuster of Bollywood. Gadar was released in the same
year when Aamir khan's 'Lagaan' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Kabhie
Khushi Kabhi Gham' hit the screens but Sunny
Deol'sGadar set the screens on fire instantly after
release and defeated other two movies in terms of box office collections
and popularity.
9) Muqaddar Ka Sikandar / Ram teri Ganga Maili
- Muqaddar Ka Sikandar is considered to be Amitabh
Bachchan's biggest Commercialsuccess in terms of Money Making.
MKS was also the biggest Box Office Grosser of 1970s after
Sholey. Ram Teri Ganga Maili was legendary director Raj
Kapoor's most succesful movie (commercially).RTGM
was the most popular and highest grosser of 1980s defeating "Hero"
(1983) and "Mr. India" (1987).Later
Only "Maine Pyaar Kiya" gave a tough competition to it's
popularity.
10) Maine Pyaar Kiya / Karan Arjun
- Maine Pyaar Kiya was musical smash-hit directed by Sooraj
Barjatya. Salman
Khan and Bhagyashree
became nation's biggest heartthrob Overnight at the end of 90s.
- Karan Arjun was Re-incarnation story directed by Rakesh Roshan.
It completed Golden and silver jubliees at many centers. This success
was achieved due to the movie's liking by huge combined fan base
of SRK and Salman. Karan-Arjun's script / screenply is considered
to be one of the best work in many years.
