For those who were asking for a real serious perfomance from Akshay Kumar, Patiala House will be a delight to watch.... It's hard to remember in which movie Akshay Kumar shed tears after one decade old Sangharsh.... Akshay Kumar had chosen to do only Comedy films for past many years and he enjoyed success in that.. but Patiala house is different... Movie starts with a narration in Akshay's voice where he is seen doing bowling practice alone.
Patiala house is A story about a Punjabi Family where an NRI guy Parghat Singh, aka Gattu (Akshay) wanted to become a cricketer (as a fast bowler) but his father (Rishi Kapoor) is a totally Control Freak who didn't allow his talented son to follow his dreams and made him to live the life of a small businessman.
Though unhappy with his life, Parghat Singh sacrificed his dreams to fullfill his father's wish but couldn't completely remove his love for cricket from his heart and mind.
Story take some twists and selectors of a very troubled England Cricket Team, who knows Parghat Singh 's Talent from his teen age seek his help (Who is now 34) to rescue them and join as a fast bowler.
First half of Patiala House is a bit slow but it is understandable as Parghat Singh narrates the emotional events of his house which has strong effects in his mind since childhood. He narrates how his talent as a fast bowler was recognised by his coach and other players when he was a teenager. And how he had to suddenly quit cricket because his father didn't want him to represent England.
Movie picks good pace in Second half when after knowing English Selector's new offer every other family member and His girlfriend Simran (Anushka Sharma) encourage Pargat singh, and he finally decides to follow his dreams and play for England cricket team.
Akshay Kumar's performance in Patiala House has proved how much he has grown as an actor... Akshay has done full justification to the character of a very emotional and innocent young man who loves his family and his passion equally.
Anushka Sharma looks very gorgeous and has done her part very well. Her chemistry with Akshay is amazing.
Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia are as good as ever in the roles of traditional, old fashioned head of an NRI Punjabi Family.
Finally, Patiala house is a must watch for Akshay Kumar fans. This is the kind of serious role which everyone was expecting from Akshay Kumar for a long time. And he has not disappointed at all...
