Most Prestigious Awards for Indian Cinema, National Film Awards are announced. This is 57th National film Awards (For movies released in the year of 2009-10)
A total of 20 films were awarded in the Feature Film category at the National Awards. Kutty Srank, which was also adjudged the best film, also bagged the maximum number of awards, 5. Abahoman, Paa and Keralavarma Pazhassiraja followed closely; with 4 awards each.

Best Film providing Wholesome Entertainment Award - 3 Idiots
Best Debut Film of A Director - Lahore
Best Director Award - Rituparno Ghosh (For Bengali Film' 'Abohoman')
Best Actress Award - Anannya Chatterjee (For Bengali Film' 'Abohomanl')
Best Music Award - Amit Trivedi (Dev D) and Illaiyaraaja (Keralavarma Pazhassiraja) (Malyalam)
Best Supporting Actor Award - Farooq Sheikh (For Hindi Film 'Lahore')
Best Supporting Actress Award - Arundhati Nag (For Hindi Film Paa)
Best Male Playback Singer - Rupam Islam (‘Mahanager @ Kolkata ')
Best Female Playback Singer - Nilanjana Sarkar ( Houseful ')
Best Children’s Film Award - Putaani Party (Kannada) and Keshu (Malyalum)
Additionaly Eight Films were selected for the ‘Best Feature Film in each of the language specified in the Schedule VIII of the constitution’ category –
